All, game is ON tomorrow. 10:30 kick-off at Waverton. Mal Shaw will be taking the team. If any of you are available to get there 20 mins early to help with the pitch set up I would be very grateful. Thanks and good luck, Andy. |

SATURDAY DECEMBER 20TH V WESTMINSTER PARK COUGARS
Thursday, December 18, 2008
SATURDAY DECEMBER 20TH
All, it is highly unlikely that this weekend's fixture against Westminster Park Cougars will be on. I will get confirmation tomorrow evening and will ring you all. Please check voicemails etc. Thanks for a super turnout at Chester City on Saturday. The boys clearly enjoyed themselves and although the day didn't quite go to plan it was still enjoyable. Thanks to those parents who ferried boys around and braved the cold temperatures. I will post updates on our website over Christmas and I hope that improving weather will enable us to tackle the backlog of games which will total 4 if we don't play on Saturday. Our next scheduled fixture is on Jan 10th away to Blacon. I have taken delivery of our Waverton FC rainjackets. I will bring them to our next fixture / training session. Finally, I will take this opportunity to wish you all a relaxing festive and prosperous new year. Thanks to you all for your continued support. Andy. |

Saturday 29th V Westminster Park Lions
All, this Saturday we are away at Westminster Park Lions. Kick-off is 10:30 so please arrive for 10:00. Full squad required. Pitches can be found at Hough Green Chester, by driving from the Grosvenor Bridge roundabout in the direction of Saltney - you will see the entrance on the left hand side about 200m from the roundabout. Please remember to bring warm gear for the boys. Recently, several Westminster Park games have been cancelled due to unplayable pitches. I may only find out if our game is cancelled on Friday night. If this happens I will call you all so check your answer machines etc on Friday evening. No call from me means the match is on. Thanks for your efforts in getting all our Chester City trip forms and cheques in. I will be chasing up our rain jackets tomorrow. See you Saturday when hopefully we can get back to our winning form. Andy. |

SATURDAY 22ND V NEWTON ATHLETIC
All, this coming Saturday we have an away fixture at Newton Athletic. Kick-off is at 10:00 so please try to be there for 09:30. We are playing at Cheshire County Sports Ground in Newton Lane, Chester. Postcode is CH2 1PR. If you log on to the Newton Athletic AFC website you can find directions. Full squad required - let me know if you cannot make it. Please remember to collect forms from me for the Chester City visit - I forgot to distribute them last Saturday and it was not a morning for hanging around. Thanks to all of you who braved the weather! Finally, Kevin Swanton has very generously provided a significant donation towards the purchase of Waverton AFC rain jackets for our squad. Assuming that you are okay with this can I ask for a parental contribution of £7.50 per player? Jackets will be available within a fortnight. Please pass cash or cheques ( payable to Andy Hodgson ) to me and I will sort out payment with Queensferry Sports. Can you all provide me with your email addresses on Saturday so that in future I can email any necessary documentation to you. Thanks, Andy. |

Remember, if you click on fixtures and results on the Waverton Website, select the Olympic Trophies U9 Shield Competition you can see our fixture list for the remainder of the year. SATURDAY NOV 8TH
| All, Our next fixture is against Malpas Blacks this coming Saturday. We will be playing at Carden Park Hotel and kick-off is at 10:30. Please get there for 10:00. Carden Park is on the A534 between Broxton and Wrexham. The post code is CH3 9DQ. As you enter the Hotel grounds via a small automated traffic barrier, follow the road for a short distance and you will see the pitch on the right hand side. We are to park along the roadside - take care when leaving your vehicles to access the pitch. Under 9 rules this year stipulate that the maximum squad size on match days is 10 players. Up until now I have been taking our full squad to each game with the agreement of the opposition. This Saturday I have to stick to 10 players. Before I pick the 10 players for Saturday can you let me know if any players are unavailable. If you already know of any weekends when you are unavailable, let me know and I will work out a rota system to identify the two players who have to sit out each week. Unless there are any objections I do not intend to include Max in the rota. Players who are not picked for the squad can still come along to support. I would be grateful if you could explain to your lads why we can only take 10 players each week as no doubt there will be some disappointment. See you on Saturday, Andy. |

Don't forget that we have a midweek training session this coming Wednesday at Christleton High school ( indoors ) Please make sure that the boys have trainers and shinguards ( and a drink ). SATURDAY OCTOBER 11TH; Rockets v Vauxhall Motors
All, Our next fixture is another home match, this time against Vauxhall Motors. Please note that due to demand for pitches, we will be kicking off at the later time of 11:00. Please can you arrive by 10:30 so the boys can get ready. Also note that we will be playing on the other school pitch ( the one nearest the road ) so you can shelter under the trees if it is raining! Saturday's defeat was disappointing especially as we held our own for over 30 mins. I am sure you will agree that the boys put in plenty of effort in what was an exciting match. The Waverton man of the match ( as chosen by the Saughall Coaches ) was Max Solomon who had another fantastic game in goal. Well done Max! See you on Saturday, Andy. |

SATURDAY OCTOBER 4TH - U9 ROCKETS V SAUGHALL COLTS
All, This weekend's fixture is at home against Saughall Colts. Kick-off is at 10:30hrs so please be there by 10:00hrs. Please remember to bring a top / jacket for the boys to wear when they are not playing. As you are aware, parking on match days at Waverton is becoming increasingly difficult. If you can leave the car at home or potentially travel with with others then this would go some way to easing the congestion. Finally, this year we are to erect a rope fence one metre back from the touchline behind which all spectators must stand. I appreciate your co-operation with this requirement. Please let me know if any players cannot make Saturday's match. Thanks, Andy. |

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 27TH
This Saturday we will be training at Waverton as we do not have a league fixture. Start time 09:30. If this new time suits everyone then we will make it our regular training time - I know that many of you will be ferrying kids to all sorts of activities on Saturdays so I hope there are no clashes. Let me know on Saturday what you think. As you are all aware we had a terrific start to our season with an away win at Castrol last Saturday. The boys played well and the result gave them a much-needed lift. It would be an idea to get one of the boys to write a match report each week and post it on the website - let me know what you think and we can get started. To answer a some queries which I have had over the last few weeks: Mid week training: I have provisionally booked one session at Christleton sports hall on Wednesday Oct 15th from 18:00-19;00hrs. We would have to pay the cost ( £18.50 for half the hall ). If this is suitable I could make a block booking for the winter. We can discuss on Saturday. Coaching sessions with Lee Burke: I have emailed Lee for some potential dates but have yet to receive a reply. I will inform you as soon as I hear. Training tops: Some of you have mentioned obtaining training tops / jackets for the boys. I will make enquiries with Queensferry Sports regarding price but again, we would have to pay for these ourselves. As our squad has changed slightly from last year and we have had some kits handed back can we do some top swapping to sort out the sizes. We still have 2 shirts without sponsorship - if who ever has these can bring them on Saturday I will try to get them printed for our next fixture. Finally, a reminder for everyone on Saturday mornings - please make sure that you take all kit away after training / games. I still have some tops etc from last year that have not been claimed See you on Saturday, Andy. |

Saturday Sept 20th v Castrol Athletic
The first fixture of the season is against Castrol Athletic on Saturday Sept 20th. Kick-off is at 10:30 so please arrive for 10:00. The venue is the Castrol Sports and Social Club, Chester Road, Whitby ( Ellesmere Port ) Post code for directions ( sat nav or AA Autoroute ) is CH66 2NZ Note that this is not the same venue as last year. Please ensure that players have full Waverton kit ( don't forget shinpads ), a drink and that they have a top or jacket to wear when they are not playing. Could you please all take 5 mins to read the Code of Conduct for the Chester and District Junior League which is on the league and fixtures page of our website. This year the League will deal very severely with any incidents. As under 9 coach I am responsible not only for the behaviour of the boys but also the behaviour of Waverton parents and supporters. We must stay positive, give encouragement and make sure that we set a good example every Saturday. Finally, if anyone has any questions or if players are unavailable please call me on 01244 570246. See you all on Saturday, Andy. |
